Infrared Platen Temperature Sensing; standard feature only with Atlas Vac
In addition to the normal imbedded thermocouple method of controlling a heat platen’s temperature, Atlas Vac now provides, as standard equipment, an Infrared Thermal Vision System (patented) that directly senses the actual surface temperature of the heat platen. The traditional imbedded thermocouple tracks the temperature inside the heat platen while controlling the platen external surface temperature through the inclusion of a calculated temperature offset value derived during the validation or calibration protocol. Such offset values are determined through the use of a hand held thermal probe placed against the heat platen surface in a predetermined geometric pattern. The new Atlas Vac Infrared Vision System Temperature Sensors provide actual platen surface temperature at any time, on the PLC operator screen. Such data provides engineers with a rapid check of one critical parameter without using calibration instrumentation.
